vw shirt 001 - 2026

Proportion are balance are everything when it comes to garment design.  I created this shirt by reverse engineering a shirt I already owned that fit great but noticed some areas that could be improved.  I took measurements, drafted a pattern and made changes as I saw fit.

I knew I wanted a striped cotton fabric even though I knew it wouldn't drape the same as the original cloned shirt which was a synthetic blend.  The fabric I landed on is a woven stripe cotton/silk blend that has a luxurious hand and similar drape qualities as the original which I found during my lunch break one day at a local fabric store.

The fit is casual but paired with this fabric, it is slightly elevated.  It's oversized and slightly cropped which prevents it from looking sloppy.  I plan to test and tweak this shirt in different fabrics to see how other fabrications perform with these proportions and push my garment study further.
